Key to the Worlds

In Steam-powered 1879, Terri Wattson, the head electrical engineer and inventor of his underground town, ventures outside for the first time in centuries, only to discover the surface has become scorched and ravaged by war. Equipped with his Batterypack (Battpack for short), and Thousand-Volt Gloves, Wattson embarks on a journey to discover resources that will help him finish inventions that will take his kind from the Steam age into the Electrical.

Only, in this dangerous endeavor, he finds the sky littered with thousands of bright blue comets plummeting toward the earth’s crust. Aliens are descending upon the earth, and they bring with them new technology. However, little does he know that these aliens are the reason he and his kind were forced to retreat underground, after a terrible war ensued, destroying the earth and rendering the surface uninhabitable. In his attempt to steal the foreign technology, Wattson uncovers the truth behind this invasion.

The Lock Empire, a race of felines hungry for the power that sustains their advanced technologies, travels from planet to planet, draining their cores little by little until finally, the planet dies. Upon finding records of the war between his people and the Locks, Wattson is discovered and imprisoned, where he meets a rogue alien by the name of Sherlock, a maimed and scorned master of the Forbidden Key, and a dangerous weapon that has the power to stop the Lock Empire once and fur all. Pun intended. Once Wattson breaks them out, Sherlock recoveres his weapon, the Key of Worlds, and discovered his power has been stolen by the Locks to power their armies. In order to regain all of his power, Sherlock must defeat the generals of the Lock armies and recover the fragments divided among them. Sherlock and Wattson must work together to stop the alien invasion, restore earth to its prime, and bring balance between the two Empires.

Fantasy action-adventure platformer, mild violence, cynical language. Rated E for everyone. Some side scrolling levels, some stealth, some puzzles. Takes place in late 1870s, 19th century.
